| Richard West is Executive Director of the Center for the School of the Future. He is also a professor of special education and rehabilitation. He currently serves as a member of several advisory boards including those for the Parent Resource Center and the Alliance for Youth, Families, and Communities. He currently directs several projects supported by state and federal funds including the Family Enhancement and Preservation Project and the School Improvement Partnership. This partnership comprises the Utah State Office of Education, six northern Utah school districts, Brigham Young University, and five associated central Utah School districts.
Dr. West has directed or co-directed more than $20 million in research, training, and demonstration projects during his 28 years at Utah State University, most of which resulted from highly competitive federal grants. Prior to coming to USU, Dr. West was an administrator in a large metropolitan school district.
Dr. West has served as guest or consulting editor of six national journals and has authored six books, nine book chapters, more than 50 articles in national refereed journals, more than 50 additional articles and instructional products including videotapes and computer software, and more than 200 papers presented at national and international conferences.
